Recently, with the expansion of China's "visa-free circle of friends", there are more and more cases of foreigners coming to China visa-free under the Mutual Visa Exemption Agreement, so what are the precautions?

Question 1:

According to the mutual visa exemption agreements signed between China and the countries concerned, foreign nationals who meet the conditions for visa exemption can "stay in China for a cumulative total of not more than 90 days in every 180 days", how is this understood and calculated?

A: "Accumulated stay of not more than 90 days in every 180 days" means that a foreigner can stay in China for not more than 90 days within 180 days from any natural day backward, which does not include the time of holding visas, residence certificates and other visa documents, as well as the time of stopping to reside in China with APEC Business Travel Card. If the cumulative visa-free stay within 180 days from the time of entry has reached 90 days, visa-free entry is not allowed; if the cumulative stay is less than 90 days but the remaining stay is less than 30 days, the visa-free stay shall not exceed the remaining visa-free stay.

Question 2:

Can foreign nationals of countries with which I have mutual visa exemption leave the country directly with emergency travel documents issued by the embassy of the country in China if their passports, which have been stamped by the border control authorities after visa-free entry, have been lost?

A: The visa exemption agreements signed between China and the countries concerned have clearly stipulated the applicable types of documents, usually passports, and some of the agreements also include other international travel documents such as temporary travel documents. Foreign nationals holding international travel documents specified in the agreement visa-free entry after the loss of the documents, such as replacement documents belong to the visa-free agreement in the document category, can be replaced in the visa-free period of stay in the normal exit; such as exceeding the visa-free period of stay, or replacement of travel documents do not belong to the agreement of the document category, you still need to go to the public security organs of the Exit-Entry Administration to do the right to stay in the document, and in the stay in the document.

Question 3:

After entering China visa-free, what should foreign nationals of countries with which we have mutual visa exemption do if they want to continue to stay in China after the expiration of the visa-free period of stay?

A: After entering China visa-free, foreign nationals of countries with which we have mutual visa exemption should leave China before the expiration of the visa-free stay. If they need to stay in China for urgent reasons or force majeure, they should apply to the Exit-Entry Administration Department of the Public Security Organs for stay procedures before the expiration of the visa-free stay period.

Question 4:

Do foreign nationals of countries with which we have mutual visa exemptions need to apply for accommodation registration after entering China visa-free?

A: Article 39 of the Law of the People's Republic of China on the Administration of Departure and Re-entry stipulates that if a foreigner stays in a hotel in China, the hotel shall register his/her stay in accordance with the relevant provisions of the public security administration of the hotel industry, and report the information on the registration of the foreigner's stay to the public security authorities of the place where he/she is staying. If an alien resides or stays in a place of residence other than a hotel, he or she or the person who stays with him or her shall register with the public security authorities of the place of residence within 24 hours of his or her arrival. According to the above provisions, foreign nationals of countries with which we have mutual visa exemptions are required to register their stay in accordance with the law after entering China visa-free.

The "ARRIVAL CARD" filled out by foreign nationals upon entry into China has already informed foreigners of accommodation registration matters in "Important Tips" in both Chinese and English, so please follow the relevant tips to register foreigners in accordance with the law. Please follow the relevant instructions to register foreigners in accordance with the law. China's immigration authorities and public security organs have further simplified the registration items, and will make full use of Internet technology to simplify the way of registration and declaration, so as to enhance the convenience of foreigners in China.
