According to Russian President's press secretary Peskov, on May 20, 2026, Russia will extend the visa-free policy for Chinese citizens.
On May 20th, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Guo Jiakun also answered questions at a regular press conference, stating that to continue facilitating personnel exchanges between China and Russia, China has decided to extend the visa-free policy for Russia until December 31, 2027. Russian citizens holding ordinary passports who come to China for business, tourism, visiting relatives and friends, exchange visits, or transit for no more than 30 days can enter China without obtaining a visa. According to the order signed by Russian President Putin on December 1, 2025, Chinese citizens from that day until September 14, 2026 (including September 14), have the right to enter the Russian Federation without a visa for the purpose of visiting relatives or conducting business visits, tourism, or participating in scientific, cultural, social political, economic, and sports activities, or for transit through the territory of the Russian Federation, provided they hold a People's Republic of China ordinary passport and stay in the Russian Federation for no more than 30 days.
